Neck pain is a very common symptom among modern people.
▪️ Muscle and Tendon Overtension: Stiffness in the muscles around the neck (trapezius, splenius capitis, levator scapulae, etc.) caused by a straightened neck, forward head posture, an unsuitable pillow during sleep, stress, and similar factors.
▪️ Cervical Spondylosis and Disc Herniation: When a disc between the cervical vertebrae protrudes or degenerative changes compress a nerve.
▪️ Degenerative Arthritis: Inflammation or bone spurs forming in the cervical joints due to aging or overuse.
▪️ Whiplash Injury: Soft tissue damage caused by the neck suddenly jerking from a car accident or other trauma.
In Korean medicine, neck pain is not viewed simply as a problem localized to the painful area, but is approached from the perspective of external invasion by wind-cold-dampness (風寒濕), blood stasis (瘀血), phlegm-fluid retention (痰飮), and disrupted Qi-Blood circulation, with treatment tailored accordingly.
