Teen acne is a skin condition that commonly occurs during puberty, when sex hormone secretion becomes more active. In Korean medicine, acne is not seen as merely a surface-level skin problem, but as arising from an imbalance in the internal organs and heat concentrating in the Upper Burner (the head and face).

▪️ Lung Heat (肺熱): The Lungs govern the skin and respiration; when internal heat enters the Lungs and erupts onto the face, it causes yellowish or red acne.
▪️ Stomach Heat (胃熱): Heat accumulates in the stomach from fatty, spicy, or processed food intake, concentrating acne around the mouth and jaw.
▪️ Blood Heat (血熱) and Blood Stasis (瘀血): Poor blood circulation and heat lingering in the blood create dull red, painful nodular acne.
▪️ Sleep Deprivation and Stress (Liver Qi Stagnation): When academic stress blocks the flow of Liver Qi, heat builds up and worsens symptoms.
